“The most famous Albanian since Mother Teresa of Calcutta”. (The Independent).
A role model for young migrant women who has demonstrated so well how to overcome barriers and achieve success. From a difficult early start in life, escaping war torn Kosovo in 1991 with her family at just one year old, living in a children’s home in London and moving frequently from one place to another, helping her mother win a second battle against cancer, to singing anywhere that she could until being discovered, and following her dream of becoming a global pop superstar and now a judge on the UK X Factor. Not forgetting her roots, Rita is now an Honorary Ambassador to Kosovo and has made it her mission to improve the education and political engagement there.
